16th Term Presidential and BOD Candidates


Jack Wu | President

Jack Wu is the Co-founder & COO of MVP Fastlane.  MVP Fastlane is a venture studio that not only helps early stage startups design their products and find their market fit, but also assist funded startups to build cross-border teams. He has helped a client launch their product within 6 months, get accepted into the TechStars accelerator and receive $1.5M angel fund. Jack has also helped another client build their cross-border team, which eventually was acquired by PayPal for $4B.  

Jack is a board member of the World Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce North America, and a board member of the Taiwanese American Junior Chamber of Commerce Northern California. He helps business owners scale up their businesses to the world.

Goals & Vision

TAJCCNC is for Taiwanese talents in Northern California, with a mission to empower entrepreneurship, professional development and establish professional connections. Every online and/or offline events will not only provide the opportunities for development, but also the opportunities to connect with various subject experts or event the possibilities in finding future business partners.  Hence, the goal for this year is to focus on everyone’s inner slashie*. First, we will utilize the concept of “Life Design” to encourage members in finding their lifestyle, passion and work/life balance. Second, form regular project based and book club meetups to engage members and connect with their peers for professional and personal growth. Third, assist members in achieving their goals and dreams by leveraging the resources and connections offered through TAJCCNC.

北加州台灣青商會是專為北加州的台灣人才而設立的社群,我們的使命是推廣青年創業、規劃個人發展、建立專業人脈。在每場線上線下的活動中,不僅讓大家提升在職場上的專業能力,同時能拓展不同領域的人脈,更能與專家們交流,認識未來的創業路上的夥伴。而今年最大的目標,是強調沒個人的斜槓生活。其一,透過”Life Design“過程,鼓勵會員尋找自己的生活,從中找到自己熱愛的事情,生活跟事業都能兼顧。其二,組成專案讀書會,讓會員參與有興趣的讀書會,與同儕間互相交流分享,學習成長。其三,協助會員們達成目標,利用商會的資源與人脈,支持會員們想達成的目標,追求夢想。

16th Term Candidates


Austin Hwang

Vice President

Austin Hwang is currently a Board Member of TAJCCNC and the Chair of the Entrepreneurship Committee. He is the COO & Co-Founder of LearningPal. LearningPal helps enterprises to save 80% of manual document processing effort with AI. He was the Director of Corporate Strategy and Partnerships at an AutoML startup backed by 500 Startups and he helped the company to get accepted into top accelerator programs including Berkeley SkyDeck, Plug and Play Supply Chain, and Plug and Play Japan Insurtech. He also helped with fundraising and assisted in closing the $5M Series A. 

In addition, he is the Chapter Lead of Oxford Entrepreneurs of the Bay at Oxford Entrepreneurs Network where he helps outreaching to Oxford Alumni in the Bay Area and hosting monthly pitch and social events. Furthermore, Austin is a member of the Steering Committee of the Oxford Angel Fund which invests in startups affiliated to Oxonians in the US. 

Austin received an MSc in BIomedical Engineering from the University of Oxford, a BEng(Hons) Biochemical Engineering from University College London, and he studied 2 years at UC Berkeley-UCSF’s Joint Bioengineering PhD program.

Sherry Leung

Secretary-General

Sherry graduated from UC Davis and received a degree in Biological Science. She works at UC San Francisco as a Research Associate in Cell and Tissue Department. She works in genetic engineering and rodent management for 2 years and she is working toward management role currently. 

Sherry enjoys being a part of TAJCCNC and learning from different people through their experience. She likes hanging out with friends and connecting the people surrounded. She also likes to explore different activities and challenging herself.     

This year, Sherry wants to assist the team building a stronger connection between our members and providing more resources for the Taiwanese professionals and entrepreneurs community.


Owen Hsiao

Treasurer 

Owen joined TAJCCNC  in 2018 and has been involved as Vice Secretary-General and member of the marketing committee in the chapter. As the 16th term TAJCCNC Treasurer, Owen is dedicated to make TAJCCNC a strong platform which connects North California young Taiwanese professionals and entrepreneurs from various backgrounds and to build strong networks that benefit all members within the organization. Owen is very looking forward to working with the team to provide the members resources and opportunities for building ideas into businesses, developing professional skills, and building long lasting and meaningful connections.

Graduated from UC Berkeley School of Information’s master’s program specializing in product management and user experience research, Owen has been working as a product manager at Yahoo, WalmartLabs, eBay, and DiabeticLink managing cross-functional product development among different stakeholders including software engineers, UX/UI designers, and 3rd party partners; and, had successfully launched products that impact millions of user worldwide.

Jie-Gang Kuang

Board Member

Jie-Gang joined Apple Inc in 2016 after he received his master degree in computer engineering from Columbia University. Before Jie-Gang came to the US, he received his bachelor degree in electrical and control engineering and master degree in communication engineering from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, and had been working in Ambarella Taiwan LTD for more than four years.

Jie-Gang plans to assist the team to hold more events which could help our members succeed in their business and entrepreneurship.




Vivian Thai

Board Member

Vivian is currently part of the Board of Directors of TAJCCNC as the Secretary-General and Chair of the Professional Development Committee. Her 9-5 job is at Equinix as a Senior Associate Program & Program Manager, Product. She is excited to take on another term as a board member and continue to build upon the TAJCCNC hub to support the members and community in their professional, personal and entrepreneurial endeavors. 

Vivian received a degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems at San Jose State University. During her time in university, she was involved in Residence Hall Associate, Akbayan, AIESEC and Alpha Kappa Psi. After college, she joined TAJCCNC as the Marketing Operations Officer in the 13th term. Vivian enjoys meeting new people and learning from them through the stories they tell. She finds it important to always challenge herself and continue to learn new things every day. Her personal interest includes skincare, digital marketing, and dancing. To destress and relax, Vivian loves going to aerial yoga or staying home and making a cup of matcha latte to drink.

Wesley Sun 

Board Member

Wesley is a Business Development manager at Golden Arrow America, packaging company that creates secondary packaging from sustainable and renewable resources such as bamboo and bagasse. His primary role consists of 3 important tasks which is 1) Open new doors for new relationships, 2) Maintain existing and current relationships, and 3) Project managing. As a business development manager Wesley picks up the roles of both sales and project management to ensure all projects have a start and finish. Within Golden Arrow he’s responsible of the beauty, cosmetics, and luxury goods division, consisting of clients such as Estee Lauder Companies, Loreal Brands, Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, and Sephora store brands. 




Rose Chen

Board Member

My name is Rose Chen, I now work as an Engineering Program Manager in a consumer electronic company. I graduated from UC Irvine with a master degree in Engineering Management and came to Bay Area for work since then. I am a goal oriented person with passion in engineering, design and program management. I’m recently taking courses on HCI and Service Design, hoping to elevate my skills in these fields and to combine more design thinking/ interaction design methodologies into my program management work. Out side of work, I enjoy shopping, dancing and listening to music. I think TAJCCNC is a great organization which can help one to further his or her personal development and to get inspired by new people. I really look forward to joining the team.
